Lanikai Beach Access

Lanikai Beach Access

Lanikai Beach Access

For a beach so beautiful, Lanikai Beach has remained mostly uncrowded despite the recent press mentions mainly because the beach access points are marked by small, understated signs, and beach access is via narrow pathways between private homes.

Lanikai Beach Access Points

Here are the five main access points from Mokulua Drive that runs parallel to the shoreline and is the main artery through the Lanikai neighborhood bordering the beach.

1. A’alapapa Drive Access Point

The first Lanikai Beach access point right at the start of Mokulua Drive at the A’alapapa Drive intersection is the A’alapapa Drive path, a walkway between two private homes.

Though the first path towards the beach, the part of Lanikai Beach the access point leads to is a narrow stretch, often limited by the tides.

2. Kaelepulu Drive Entry

Near the start of Mokulua Drive, the second and most convenient beach access point as you walk down from Kailua Beach Park (if you parked there) is Kaelepulu Drive Entry (opposite Kaelepulu Drive).

Flanked by swaying palm trees and well-maintained, the Kaelepulu Drive beach access point takes you to the northern tip of beautiful Lanikai Beach, the start of the soft wide sands.

3. Mokumanu Drive Path

A few minutes further up is the access point opposite Mokumanu Drive, a wide walkway convenient for those who parked in the few street spots available next to the T-junction.

4. Kaiolena Drive Pathway

Just opposite Kaiolena Drive is another well-maintained pathway to Lanikai Beach, enveloped by tropical foliage, and best suited for those seeking the middle portion of Lanikai Beach.

5. Haokea Drive Access

Across Haokea Drive, just next to the T-junction is another access pathway that leads to a more secluded part of Lanikai Beach.
